Account Deletion Overview

You have the right to delete your I Wish It account and all associated data at any time. This page explains how to request account deletion and what data will be removed.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1: In-App Deletion (Recommended)

  1. Open the I Wish It app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Scroll to Account Management
  4. Tap Delete Account
  5. Confirm your decision

Option 2: Web Request

If you cannot access the app, please contact us via the Contact Form.

  • Subject: Select "Support" or "Privacy"
  • Message: State that you wish to delete your account and include your username.

We will process your request within 7 business days.

Data That Will Be Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data will be permanently removed:

Account Information:

  • Email address
  • Username and display name
  • Profile picture
  • Bio and profile information
  • Authentication credentials

Wishlist Data:

  • All wishlists you created
  • All items in your wishlists
  • Item images, descriptions, and links
  • Share tokens and QR codes
  • Privacy settings

Social Data:

  • Friend connections
  • Friend requests (sent and received)
  • Item claims you made on others' wishlists
  • Claims others made on your wishlists

Usage Data:

  • Recently viewed wishlists
  • Notification preferences
  • Currency preferences
  • App settings

Data Retention Period

Your personal data will be permanently deleted immediately upon account deletion.

  • Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., transaction records for tax purposes)

Data That May Be Retained

The following data may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form:

  • Analytics Data: Anonymized usage statistics for app improvement
  • Legal Records: Data required for legal compliance or dispute resolution
  • Security Logs: Anonymized security and fraud prevention logs

Important: This retained data cannot be linked back to you personally.

Impact on Other Users

When you delete your account:

  • Friends: You will be removed from all friends' friend lists
  • Shared Wishlists: All share links to your wishlists will become invalid
  • Claims: Items you claimed on others' wishlists will be unclaimed
  • Notifications: Friends will not be notified of your account deletion

Before You Delete

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, your wishlists, items, friends, and all associated data will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
